According to today's Tuttosport,
Alessandro Del Piero should start Italy's World Cup qualifier with Hungary.
The Turin-based daily quotes Juve's favourite son who vows to win over
the fans on Sunday.
The Gazzetta dello Sport
believes he can do it. More importantly, so too does coach Giovanni Trapattoni.
"Trap gives thumbs up to Del Piero," we read after the forward impressed
with a goal in training on Thursday. The final word goes to Del Piero who
says: "I've scored the first goal of the Trap era. Hopefully it will bode
well."
The Corriere dello Sport
mines a similar seam with the headline: "Del Piero to conquer Budapest."
The paper suggests that Del Piero and Filippo Inzaghi could play up front
with Roma's Francesco Totti tucked in behind. Alex declares: "I will repay
the faith shown in me by Trapattoni."
Another Bianconero who is
doing well for the Azzurri is Gianluca Zambrotta. He may have less column
inches, but the midfielder is not short of goals: he grabbed two in a practice
match against the Italy Under-18s.
