The epic saga of discussion
concerning Alex Del Piero and his role within the Juventus team is now
approaching biblical proportions and is, yet again, the major point of
discussion among the day’s papers.
The Gazzetta dello Sport
picks up on the comments club general manager Luciano Moggi made to juventus.com
concerning the team’s defence and Del Piero. Furthermore, Moggi seems to
be no rush to renew Carlo Ancelotti's current contract: "Carlo's doing
well and there's plenty of time. It'll all be decided before the year's
out," he declares. The general manager also emphasises, with half an eye
on Del Piero perhaps, that there are no manager's pets at the club either.
“The players in form will be picked,” he assures the Milan football pink.
Tuttsoport runs its eyes
over possible transfer targets for the Bianconeri. Fiorentina's Daniele
Adani is apparently at the top of the shopping list while Max Vieri will
be loaned out to Serie B outfit Ancona. The Turin-based daily also speculates,
somewhat wildly perhaps, that Luciano Moggi has launched a broadside at
Del Piero giving him a month to put up or shut up: "We'll see after three
games who deserves to play."
The Corriere dello Sport
reckons that unsettled Inter defender Taribo West is on his way to Turin.
They also feature quotes from Moggi on the vexed Del Piero question. "Alex
is not a privileged party at Juve,” he claims. “As things stand he is not
on match-winning form but to exclude him now would not be correct." As
they say in the US, let's get it on!
