All the papers today focus
their attention on the Juventus players who are busy preparing for the
Italy match against Romania.
The Gazzetta dello Sport
begins its summary by talking to Alessandro Del Piero about his goal at
the San Paolo against Napoli last Saturday. "I view the manner in which
I scored the goal as a return to my old self," declares the Bianconero
star. He continues: "If my instinct in front of goal has returned it means
that I am both physically and psychologically over the injury and doing
well. Now all I have to do is keep it going." Against Romania though Del
Piero is destined to start from the bench. However the number 10 points
out: "There are two matches and many of us will get their chance. I've
had a more relaxing week than I have been used to. I am now clear in mind
as to the important contribution I want to make even if it is as a substitute."
The headline in Tuttosport
reads "Inzaghi, the main man." The paper then explains the fact that SuperPippo
is certain to start the match. "Italy's centre-forward can adapt to any
strike partner or situation. Tomorrow night in the San Siro he will be
partnered by Marco Delvecchio with whom he played in Reggio Calabria last
April against Portugal in Italy's last friendly before the European Championships.
He was Dino Zoff's first choice and is now Giovanni Trapattoni's number
one striker - hardly surprising given his excellent start to the World
Cup campaign when he bagged two goals against Hungary.
Meanwhile the Corriere dello
Sport comments on the recent visit to the Comunale of both Giovanni and
Umberto Agnelli. The Rome based daily writes: "The first to arrive was
Giovanni who made a morning visit at the end of the team's training session.
The vice-president practised his French as he spoke to Zinedine Zidane.
There were also words of encouragement for Antonio Conte and Gianluca Pessotto
as well as a few words of Neapolitan dialect thrown in as he spoke to Ciro
Ferrara. This was followed by a long chat with Bianconero manager Carlo
Ancelotti who has become a firm favourite of both the Agnelli family and
the Juventus fans. The second member of the Agnelli family to arrive was
Umberto who made an afternoon visit in which he watched the players train.
He stayed for around half an hour and also spoke to Ancelotti."
