While the rest of the team
were enjoying their second day off after their battling performance against
Italian titleholders Lazio, Gianluca Pessotto, Filippo Inzaghi and Alessandro
Del Piero were all making their way to join Giovanni Trapattoni's Italy
squad, who will be playing England in a friendly on Wednesday at the Delle
Alpi.
On Saturday the Bianconero
fans made their unhappiness at their team's elimination from Europe patently
clear, but Alex Del Piero and Filippo Inzaghi are sure that the mood will
be different midweek. "Because Italy do not deserve protests from the fans,"
was the simple reason given by Juve's number 9. "Juve are going through
a difficult time, but I'm sure that the whistles will soon become applause."
Del Piero looks at the coming
international. "These are games in which there isn't a pressure for points,"
he said, "but where we want to do well against a big name team."
Mark Iuliano has been forced
to pull out thanks to a re-emergence of the pain in his left knee and will
undergo further tests on Monday evening.
