What the papers say

There are plenty of column
inches dedicated to the Bianconeri in today's papers.
The Gazzettta dello Sport
leads with applause from manager and team-mates for Edgar Davids. "There
aren't many like him for pace and technique," said Carlo Ancelotti. While
captain Antonio Conte adds, "He has grit and determination that carry everyone
with him and he is frighteningly strong."
"Del Piero is so sad", according
to the Corriere dello Sport. The paper suggests that if the move of the
18-year-old Bari prodigy Antonio Cassano goes through, Alex could well
find himself on his way out (…to Milan?). While the Rome daily goes on
to suggest another option, "Cassano, Alex and Zidane, why not?"
The paper also looks forward
to Athirson's first match in a Juve shirt, pointing out that today will
be his first day in training with his new team-mates.
Tuttosport sees into the
future, where it finds Damiano Zenoni, Zauri, Diana and - of course - Cassano,
all lining-up for Juve.
The paper also has encouragement
for Del Piero, under the headline, "Alex-Pippo, try it again!" The daily
reveals that Ancelotti is thinking of giving David Trezeguet a rest, in
which case the front two that won Juve their last Scudetto would get to
start for the Turin giants.
