The Gazzetta dello Sport
reminds us that Edgar Davids will be suspended for Juve's next game, before
turning its focus to Juve players involved in this evening's international
match. Del Piero, reflecting on Inzaghi's double against Romania, stated
that: "in general I play him in for goals and opportunities. It would be
great if instead, I could score a goal from an assist by Pippo." Tacchinardi
has thanked Trap for his probable selection, saying: "I would have been
very upset to lose out on this opportunity." Finally the paper alerts us
to the fact that this evening, Del Piero will draw level with Bettega and
Riva, on 42 appearances for the Italian team.
In the Corriere dello Sport,
Davids is described as being punished twice, as not only was he unjustly
sent off against Lazio, but now will have to suffer the mockery of a one
match suspension. On a happier note, Del Piero has praised his strike partners
in the Italian team, stating that he is "really enthusiastic about playing
alongside Inzaghi and Totti. Who will score? I hope it will be me, but
it isn't a problem."
Tuttosport leads on Juventus,
with a transfer rumour, claiming that Kily Gonzales is ready to "say yes",
to a move to the Bianconeri. Meanwhile, Max Vieri is quoted as saying that:
"it would be great if Christian and I could move to Turin". The paper also
describes the club as being furious about the unmerited suspension handed
out to Davids. Regarding Italy's match this evening, Del Piero and Pippo
Inzaghi, are described as being in competition to score their fourteenth
goals for the Azzuri; the same number as Rivera scored. Alex, however,
would prefer that the two Juve strikers helped each other in scoring goals,
saying "Pippo, I am waiting for you to provide some chances for me. In
this way, people will understand that we are not rivals". Finally, Tacchinardi
has thanked Trapattoni, vowing that "I will help us qualify, both for myself,
and to reward him."
