Last night's Azzurri triumph
over Lithuania is relived in the pages of today's papers, with particular
interest in the teamwork on the field between Juve and Roma players.
LA GAZZETTA DELLO SPORT has
Italy flying high courtesy of the Inzaghi - Del Piero striking partnership.
Del Piero adds his own double to Inzaghi's this time, and thanks his Roma
team mate Totti for the service: "I scored thanks to the Roma players".
The Milan pink reflects with interest on the signs of friendship between
Scudetto adversaries. "Passport to the World Cup in his pocket", it declares
at the same time, referring to Inzaghi's top form again last night. Pippo's
second double in the space of four days almost certainly guarantees his
participation in Japan/Korea 2002.
IL CORRIERE DELLO SPORT has
more of the same, identifying a "magic trio" in attack, with Inzaghi and
Del Piero scoring from Totti's assists. Special applause too for Zambrotta:
sharp; and Tacchinardi: who battled hard.
TUTTOSPORT too headlines
on last night's triumph, declaring an Inzaghi and Del Piero storm in Trieste,
with four goals, and an unforgettable header from Alex overcoming the Lithuanian
keeper. Again, Zambrotta and Tacchinardi stood out: "We were key players
too". "Trap" has the World Cup in his hands, the paper says of the Azzurri
coach.
Finally, its back to the
transfer market and Juve continue to seek Kezman, although rivalry is hotting
up in Spain. Lazio are reportedly swaying towards Parma's Cannavaro over
Thuram for their defensive line up, which would free up the Frenchman to
make a move to Turin. Tudor is reportedly the first to get a renewed Bianconeri
contract. Lastly, there's a focus on Conte and Iuliano, who are preoccupied
with this season's objectives, namely the race for the Scudetto and regaining
an Italy shirt.
