Del Piero's rush

In his moment of top form,
Alessandro Del Piero says his own on the team which, after five consecutive
wins has tripped up on a draw with Brescia and a defeat at the hands of
Lazio. This has, in part, thwarted the Bianconeri’s attempt to catch up
Roma: “we were doing really well, then we made these mistakes. I am in
agreement with my team mates: the problem is that we lost concentration
during the game. It is difficult to say how we managed this, I am referring
to the match against Brescia, but I think it was a consequence of the positive
results that we had in the previous matches. We could have closed the match
on them and instead they managed to draw. I suggest we look ahead, correct
our errors and do not pay any attention to what is happening around us
(transfer market, papers, Lazio, Roma)…Capello’s team is doing better than
anyone could have imagined.” Zidane’s absence could force Del Piero to
change role: "I have not yet spoken to the coach, but if he asks me to
substitute Zizou behind the strikers I will accept.” The Bianconeri attacker’s
moment of excellent form seems to be giving him an extra boost: “it is
true, I am filled with enthusiasm. Now I am not afraid to slip up in the
area, I am more convinced of my capabilities and am less nervous. This
came about in Bari, my good game and the goal in that particularly difficult
moment of my life made the difference. Since then everything has been going
smoothly. The same held true for the team up to two weeks ago.” Finally,
Del Piero commented on the recent doping scandal: “regarding myself, I
can assure you that at Juve, we know exactly what we are taking. This is
thanks to the qualified medical staff that we can count on and was true
three years ago as well.”
