“Roma, a heart for the Scudetto”
is the headline that takes up the front page of the GAZZETTA DELLO SPORT:
a lightening come back from 0-2 to 2-2 keeps Juve at six points distance
continues the Milan pink. The paper also carries the comments of Ancelotti,
who states, “Juve played a great game, and so we are very bitter. Unfortunately
we have managed to put together too few points, now we must win all the
remaining games.” Comments also from Del Piero: “We were missing
the final goal…maybe Roma believed more than we did.”
“Wow Roma” is the headline
in today’s IL CORRIERE DELLO SPORT: the paper called the match "90 incredible
minutes to remember." Rome’s daily carries some comments by Juve’s
young Brazilian defender, Athirson: I want to win over Ancelotti and stay
with Juve as long as possible.”
TUTTOSPORT headlines with
the shouts of the fans, following the deluding 2-2 against Roma, “Juve,
stop it!” The fans point the finger at the club managers and at Ancelotti.
“Three years of failure, it is time for an upheaval.”
The Turin daily, which dwells
almost entirely on the draw and its consequences then follows on with “Goodbye
Scudetto, Roma celebrates, the second place for Lazio”: desperation comes
for the Bianconeri on the 91st minute. In the paper’s player ratings, Van
der Sar is put down as being the player who committed a fatal mistake by
allowing the rebound to end up on Montella’s foot. Tacchinardi is put down
as having dominated in midfield. Moggi is furious, “we respected the regulations,
but they changed everything with five non EC players…” Ancelotti lets his
desperation to seep through, “Roma had two scoring chances and made the
best of both of them. Goodbye Scudetto.” Del Piero: “let this be a lesson
to us. In the end they believe in themselves more than we did. Umberto
Agnelli, “Juve played a great game, but we missed our chance with Lecce.”
