Sunday's Serie A results indicate another exciting championship finale.
This is the third consecutive year where the winner is only known on the
last matchday, and three teams have their eye on the Scudetto this time:
Roma, Juventus and Lazio. While Roma drew 2-2 with Napoli at the San Paolo,
Lazio and Juve beat, respectively, Fiorentina and Vicenza with the same
result: 3-0.
Del Piero scored his 9th
league goal this season to give Juve the lead: Tudor crossed the ball and
Alex nedded with a header. He then took part in the bianconeri's second
goal: a cross from the right side right to David Trezeguet to score. Alex
was also there when the third goal came, in a beautiful play trained during
the week: in a free kick, Del Piero, instead of going for the goal, passed
the ball to Zidane, who gave it to Zambrotta, who crossed for Trezeguet
to score.
According to Del Piero's
own words, that play was a nice birthday gift for
Ancelotti, who turned 41 exactly on Sunday.
The
team didn't talk to the press during the week, in order to make a better
preparation for the match against Atalanta. However, according to website
Sportal, on Thursday evening the players and coach Ancelotti gathered on
Ciro Ferrara's pizzeria "Gennaro Esposito", in a way to become even closer
for the next - and probably most important - game of the season.
Roma
is still two points ahead of Juve, which means the bianconeri don't only
depend on themselves to win the Serie A. Roma will receive Parma at the
Olimpico Stadium, and should they win, no matter the result of Juve-Atalanta,
they will get the Scudetto. But if Parma manages to beat Roma, and Juve
wins, Alex's team will get the trophy, which they last won in the 97/98
season. Del Piero is expected to be a starter.
