The Turin derby aroused strong
emotions on everybody: supporters, coaches, and especially the players,
who were battling on the field and had an actual chance to change the course
of the match. Juventus-Torino ended up 3-3, with Juve conceding the draw
on the second half, after having finished the first 45 minutes with a 3-0
lead.
"A match equalized this way
happens once a year, and we've already played it": Alessandro Del Piero,
man of the match for Juve, uses the irony to hide dejection. "On the second
half, Torino had as many shots on goal as we did, but they had a very high
conversion rate".
The Juventus number 10, who
scored twice against city rivals today, went on: "It's evident that our
disappointment is deep. And personally, for me, it exceeds the joy of the
two goals I scored. Of course we were calm when we were leading 3-0, but
it doesn't mean we were relaxed: we tried to keep ball posession just as
we would do in any other similar situation; Torino were even waiting for
us".
There is still hope for the
bianconeri,
though. "Nedved and I have shown some improvement. We have made progresses
regarding the match at Oporto, and if we are indeed a great squad, his
match shall be a future lesson for us".
