On the eve of the match against
Porto, which in the case of a victory would mathematically ensure bianconeri
qualification for the next round, Alessandro Del Piero spoke about his
physical condition. The captain has a fracture to his left hand, but he
will still play: "The hand isn't giving me too much trouble, I think I'll
be able to play without problems. Today in training I'll be trying to feel
more confident about the cast". Alex then responded to questions about
whether Juventus are too reliant on his performances: "I don't think so.
We've got a lot of great players with personality and character. No one
tries to say that he is the leader, instead on the pitch everyone tries
to show what he is capable of. Both as professionals and people, we have
a lot of players who can give a great deal".
Del Piero then explained
the importance of the match against Porto: "This is a big test for us.
We're not going through a great moment right now, at times we aren't benefiting
from playing well, and at other times we just aren't creating enough. Tomorrow
we have the chance to ensure our qualification for the next round, and
we need to give our best to get an important milestone in the season set
down".
