Alessandro
Del Piero and Francesco Coco both backed the decision to make the long-haul
trip to Japan, despite the Azzurri's average performance. Both players
conceded the trip was worthwhile, although they did admit they were struggling
in the first half of the game at the Saitama stadium. Juve forward Del
Piero said: "During the first half we were a bit disoriented because they
were really very aggressive. "I also believe that they have played good
football. They often had excellent plays and they're a well organised unit."
He added: "Then during the second half I believe that we have improved
and partially turned the tables around." Barça's left wing-back
Coco, added that in any case going to play in Japan wasn't very easy for
the National Team, but it was something they deserve credit for. He said:
"I believe that with all of the problems we've had, this team has to be
given credit for what it did. "After all we came all the way to Japan,
played a day and half after landing and still given the circumstances we
were able to play a good game." Coco added: "I believe this team deserves
some credit."
