A Visit To Vail

Turin - Del Piero leaves tomorrow at 12:30 from Malpensa on a flight to Vail, Colorado. He has scheduled an important appointment for quite a while, a checkup visit with Dr. Steadman, the American surgeon who operated on his knee after the serious injury he suffered November 8 at Udine. The operation went very well. And rehabilitation is progressing in an auspicious manner. The visit will determine how much he has recovered and what kinds of rehab therapy will be prescribed.

For Del Piero there is already a party being planned by Deborah Compagnoni in Vail next Wednesday. The world class skier, who is in Vail for the World Championships, is a big fan of the Juventus star.

With Del Piero will be his inseparable lawyer and friend Andrea D'Amico. The two will be met at mid-week by Doctor Fabrizio Tencone, one of the doctors on the staff of Juventus, and by physiotherapist Aldo Esposito. Each of them has had contact with Dr. Steadman and will receive new "programs" to follow during the rehabilitation period. The goal, which is optimistic but not impossible, is to permit Del Piero to be ready to play by May 1st.
