Del Piero on Lazio's shopping list

ROME - Lazio, who missed out on the Serie A title by one point at the weekend, are preparing a swoop for Juventus and Italy golden boy Alessandro Del Piero, it was reported Tuesday. Lazio President Sergio Cragnotti told Rome newspaper Il Messagero that the Biancoceleste were poised to make a big transfer coup while negotiations on a new contract between Del Piero and Juve were still deadlocked.

Cragnotti said: "We are going to build a stronger Lazio. We will see about Del Piero but don't make me speak about it - we are a stock exchange business."

Lazio also seem to have confirmed they are interested in recruiting Parma's Argentinian midfielder, Juan Sebastian Veron.

Cragnotti said: "We are not planning a huge revamp but certain reinforcements are necessary to be competitive in the Champions' League."
