Transfer news dominates the
papers again today. All the big clubs are making attempts to strengthen
their squads ahead of next season.
The Gazzetta dello Sport's
centre page headline: "Parma have bought Ortega. Juve interested in Giannichedda.
Muzzi urged to join Udine. Inter tempts Real: Ventola for Seedorf. The
Emilian club will pay out 40,000M lira (13.7M pounds) for Sampdoria's Argentinian
star. The Bianconeri, meanwhile are after a midfielder to replace Deschamps."
"Inter's plan: complex but
possibile. Two attackers for Lazio: Palermo if the choice falls on a main
attacking forward, Lopez if a support is preferred."
According to the Corriere
dello Sport, Seedorf is on the point of joining an Italian team: "Three
clubs are after Seedorf - Inter, Lazio and Roma. Estimated fee 45,000M
lira (15.5M pounds). Eriksson has spoken to him on the telephone; Capello
has seen him in Madrid; Lippi deems him the best midfielder for Inter."
Tuttosport devotes a lot
of space to Torino's last match in serie B: "Toro, farewell B!. It's a
joyful day: 50.000 in the Delle Alpi stadium to celebrate promotion." Further
down we see an item of news which will please the Bianconeri fans: "Juve
want Thuram too. Juventus compete with Inter, Lazio and Milan for the Frenchman."
On the inside pages of the
Turin daily a lot of space is given to news of Del Piero and confirmation
that he'll continue wearing the black and white shirt: "Del Piero: decision
time. The meeting is set for Tuesday. The star will arrive back from the
Caribbean and, together with his lawyer, will meet the Piazza Crimea management
straight away."
Torino, who from today are
officially in serie A, are doing deals too. The major news regards the
attack: "After the interest in Solskjaer - Man Utd no longer seem to want
to let him go - the Torino managers are turning their attention towards
another attacker from the European Championship winning team, Teddy Sheringham.
Manchester United will ask between 5,000M and 6,000M lira (1.7M and 2M
pounds) for him - a reasonable figure. In all probability Torino will also
finalise the Taglialatela deal within the week, a player who is now destined
to leave Napoli."
