Today is Del Piero's day. After many weeks waiting, this afternoon the Bianconero play-maker should sign the new contract with Juve.

Nothing is certain, but most of the issues seem settled. All the main sports newspapers focus on this important news; the headline of the Gazzetta dello Sport: "Del Piero is back in training and will sign the contract. After a short holiday to the Caribbean islands, Alex is back in Turin in good condition, after months of forced inactivity, for the July 1 Bianconero gathering."

The Corriere della Sera gives plenty of column inches to the contract renewal: "Today Del Piero says yes to Juve. Yesterday he was back from the Caribbean. The manager confirmed: we are reaching a conclusion, Juve want to keep him and Alex wants to remain. He will be 'the image man'."

The Turin newspaper TuttoSport, very close to the Bianconero club, mentions a strong interest from Juve for Sol Campbell: "Ancelotti likes the Tottenham defender very much. The club have also signed the goalkeeper Isaksson, a 17-year-old giant." The news about the English defender is repeated inside the paper: "Moggi calls Campbell. The Bianconeri managers concentrate on the strong defender. To get the player, the managers have offered Amoruso and 5 billion lire. However, the negotiations are difficult. Tottenham do not to want to sell the defender. Moreover, Amoruso does not want to move to England."

Meanwhile, the market carries on throwing up new surprises. The most active clubs are Inter and Lazio. The former is about to close the negotiations to buy Nestor Sensini: " Thuram is not coming, the Neroazzurri take the Argentinian all-rounder. The managers met themselves yesterday: 6 billion lire is ready for Parma."

Lazio, looking for a striker after Christian Vieri left, have to decide between Lopez and Anelka: "Today Cragnotti Jr. is in Spain for Lopez, tomorrow he will fly to London for Anelka. To get the Frenchman, Lazio are ready to sacrifice Salas; the barter of Andersson-Signori is about to conclude."

The teams who got promotion are making their first moves on the market for the new season. Torino has Ferrante's case to sort out: "Ferrante is ready to leave. The center-forward wants a 500,000 lire increase. It is a trial of strength now: the first meeting will be within the week. Torino has no intention of accepting the bomber's requests: Sampdoria is ready on the horizon."

Verona: "After losing Di Napoli, they are now trying to get Comandini." Lecce: "Sonetti, responsible for the return to Serie A, is not sure that he will be kept on: the Cesena coach is the No 1 candidate."
