The day's main headlines concentrate on Maurice Green, the American sprinter who, as of last night, is the fastest man in the world.

Moving on to football, the transfer market is as unpredictable as ever. The Corriere dello Sport kicks off with: "Inter: No to Peruzzi, Lazio: Yes to Anelka. The goalie wants a bigger cut than Juventus. Cragnotti Jr is in London: Arsenal want 80 Billion lire, but the striker eyes Lazio."
