Juventus of Turin tied 2-2 in Rennes
yesterday, gaining birth in this years UEFA cup. The French side gave all
they had in the first twenty five minutes hitting a post, and finally scoring
with Diouf. However their slim hopes of victory were cancelled when Conte
tied the game just moments later. On the 73rd minute mark Juve made it
two after Del Piero served a precious assist to new comer Zambrotta who
curled one in the net. In extra time Rennes was able to tie the game with
Nonda, but by then Juve was already thinking UEFA. In the other two finals,
West Ham made it to the "small dance" as they scored three in Metz overturning
the 1-0 defeat in London, while Montpellier was able to uphold the French
honor, by beating Hamburg on penalty kicks, and avoiding France the embarrasment
of having all three of their teams lose in the Intertoto Cup finals.
