Alessandro Del Piero will take his place in the Juventus side which faces Fiorentina on Sunday night. Del Piero’s availability was seriously in doubt this week following a bout of flu which ruled him out of the squad’s last two training sessions.

The signs of recovery were already strong on Saturday, but now club doctor Riccardo Agricola has made it official, having recorded a normal temperature for Juve’s number 10. Del Piero’s presence can only be a good news for lovers of statistics. Since 4 December 1994, when he scored the 3-2 winner against Fiorentina with just three minutes remaining, Del Piero has never failed to score in every match he’s played against the Viola.

And finally… famous Italian cyclist and Juventus fan Andrea Tafi has paid a visit to the squad, holed up in their Coverciano training camp.
