I'm happy when i heard their song.
Lauren's Story:
I was about 10, I think. I was in to all the Hip Hop and Rap crap like most children of the 90's (and 00's) I knew who the Beatles were, sure. But what did I care? I was more worried about the N-Boys or whatever breaking up.
Anyways, the date was Christmas Eve of 2002. One year after our Hari passed on. My dad got me the One Album as one of his presents. I was like "Oh...great. I'll listen to it once so I wont hurt his feelings, then." He wouldn't let me off easy, of course. He played it after we were done opening guests and he made me turn down the sound on my brand new video game.
That isn't where it started precisely, though. I was just as melancholy about the Beatles before I got the CD. But, luckily for me now, my other gift from my father was a Walkman. Never wanting to hurt his feelings, I listened to it on the way to my grandma's to open her presents. Suprisingly...I didn't take off the headphones long after we got to her house. I listened to the whole CD and instantly disregarded Eminem and the Nboys and knew "Whoa. These guys are somethin' else."
So, two years later (I'm almost 13) I'd collected about 9 Beatles CDs, four shirts, and four posters. Sadly, just recently, I lost all of my CD's on an Airplane so I need to spend my Lucky 13 gaining all of my beloveds back. A drag, huh? Oh well.
Morgan's Story (Web site)
hmm... i think the first time i ever relalized the beatles existed was when i saw the episode of the simpsons where lisa sees them go by in the yellow submarine, adn they crash into the statue of queen victoria (funny stuff) anways, i recoggnized them, so i requested that a local radio station play "yellow submarine" during an hour that they take requests. they did, and i fell in love. that christmas, i recieved gift certificated for a music store, went out, and bought "abbey road" greatest purches i ever made. anyways, somehow i got my hands on copies of "AHDN" and "Ywllow Submarine" (the movie), and as soon as i saw George in "AHDN", i was smitten, and admit, i am to this day. my collection of cds grew over time (and is now about five cds away from completion), and i am very proud to say, i have converted about five people to beatles fans. but of course, none fo them are as big of fans as i am... ;)
Maria's Story
Earlier this year, my friend Vanessa was into The Beatles and she asked me to send her a whole bunch of pictures of them online because her web browser wasn't working. So, I started sending her pictures and started to feel an attraction to John Lennon. Then I was watching music videos and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" came on and luckily, I had my tape in the VCR so I recorded it. I kind of forgot about them and then about a month went by until I saw on my satelite, the movie "John Lennon:Imagine". Unforetunatley, I caught the last ten minutes of it. Then imediately after that, I started downloading John's music videos, songs, and pictures. My obsession with John grew into an obsession with the other three Beatles also (although John will always be my favourite). And that's my story. :)
Casey's Story
My dad used to play "Good Day Sunshine" for me to wake up to when I was little. I've loved the Revolver album and everything else about the Beatles ever since. :)
Amy's Story
Well...
My sister Sarah got me hooked on the Fab Four when I was a wee child. A few YEARS (O.o) go by and my sister, Jess got 1 for Christmas. I stole it from her and I've been hooked ever sine ^.^
Cody's Story
hmm... I'd have to say when I first got hooked it would of been this year I had been looking for the movie Help but couldn't find it my mum found A Hard Days Night and I said ok I'll by it. As soon as I watched it I watched the movie like 100 times over. Then I took all my mum's old Beatles cd's she didn't care. Then I bought my self a nice Beatles record. Then for my Birthday I got 4 more Beatles records. Ever since then I have been growing my Beatles haircut, Whereing close like their's, and talk about them constantly. I know the words to all most all their songs. My favorite Beatle is Paul. I am hoping to go to Paul's concert when he comes back to the U.S. in 2005.
Laura's Story
I had always known about The Beatles, I mean, c'mon, who doesn't know The Beatles? But anyways, my story of discovery is very romantic and idealized because I heard In My Life on the radio and was completely transfixed. It was so beautiful. After that, I began to listen to my brother's Revolver CD. And the rest is history.
In eighth grade I became a complete and total Beatlemaniac, falling in love with George hehe. And soon I found one of my friends loved The Beatles the same way! So the two of us were known in all the plays @ school for being complete crazies, singing "For the Benefit of Mr. Kite" 24/7. :-)
But more than anything, I feel so thankful that I have my four guys to be the soundtrack to my life. And that's what I believe is a true Beatles fan- it doesn't matter how many t-shirts you have, or how many times you've seen A Hard Day's Night- if you hear a Beatles song on the radio on a bad day and immediately cheer up, you've got something lucky going on.
Jessica's Story
I had always known who the Beatles were and some of their more popular songs growing up, thanks to my mom. But I hadn't really gotten into them because I, too, sadly liked rap music.
Then, two years ago I got a new computer and with it, a program to download music. Since I thought this was so cool, I downloaded every single possible song I could think of. Two of them included "Help" and "A Hard's Day Night".
I loved these songs so much that I was happy when I discovered they were on the CD my dad and I bought my mom for her birthday, the Beatles' One CD. I had lost the CD I burned the songs I downloaded on so decided to listen to that instead. I loved all of them.
Later there was a huge sale on CDs at a store and I decided to buy Revolver and Rubber Soul. I loved them so much too and quickly accumulated tons of Beatles' CDs over that summer. In addition to the copy of One, Revolver, and Rubber Soul, I got Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper's, Let It Be, Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine, White Album, Anthologies 1-3, Greatest Hits 62-66, Help, and A Hard Day's Night. I listened to each one several times and knew I was in love with the Beatles.
So over the last two years, I've been listening to these albums over and over, reading facts about them online, and saving tons of pictures of them. My friends all think I'm weird for listening to this kind of music, but it's much better than what they listen to, that's for sure!
Leslie's Story
Well, the first time it really clicked was around the time that the movie "I am Sam" came out. I was 11, i think. (i'm now 14 by the way)I heard the song "blackbird" in that movie and I LOVED IT! I looked in the credits to see who sang it: Lennon/McCartney.So, what was wierd was Paul McCartney's "back in the U.S" tour was on and I heard him sing "blackbird" it was love at first site. now my room is covered with posters of the beatles. I have ALL thier albums, and now I'm officialy a BEATLEGEEK. oh! and i'd just like to add that Paul McCartney is indeed my favorite Beatle...Ta!
