PAGAN TERMS

MAGIC:
Some time spelled "magick" to separate it from the stage magic. This is the practice of using energy, directed by the will, in order to create change.

PAGAN:
Christians and Jews, through out their history, have wrongly denoted Pagans as everyone who is not a Christian or Jew. Not in itself an offensive name, it's just not accurate. The word actually comes from the Latin word "paganus", which means country dweller. there are many denominations of Pagan.

PANTHEON:
A group or set of DEITIES. Different religions use different god and goddess names.

PENDULAUM:
A form of divination. A weighted object on a string is allowed to swing in certain directions, indicating yes, no, or unknown/maybe answeres.

PENTACLE:
A pentagram surrounded by a circle, which symbolises unity.

PENTAGRAM:
Represents the four Elements plus the spirit. It also symbolises the body, and the 5 senses.

PSYCHOMETRY:
Holding or touching an object and receiving images, impressions, or vibes from it.

REDE:
"An it harm none, do what thou wilt". This is the law by which Witches/Wiccans live.

REINCARNATION:
The belief that we live more than one lifetime. This is often thought of as Karma controlled.

RITUAL:
A ceremony used for the celebration of holidays, magic and initiation.

RUNESTONES:
A form of divination where figures are assigned certain meanings. These are painted on stones.

SABBAT:
Eight anual rituals. Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox and Spring Equinox. Imbolg, Beltain, Lughnasadh and Samhain.

SCRYING:
A form of divination where you look into a fire, candle flame, black mirror or crystal ball.

SPELL:
Witch/Wiccan word for prayer.

TOTEM:
An animal from which a lesson is learned by symbolism.

TAROT CARDS:
(Ta-RO) a form of divination similas to rune stones.

TRADITION:
A path of spirituality followed by a Witch.

WAND:
A rod of varying material which is used to focus the direction of energy.

WICCA:
Just one of the many Pagan religions, nature based. Wiccans believe that The Great Spirit is in all beings and things. The God, Ultimate Force or Combined Consciousness is a bipolar deity and has both male and female within. This is often represented by the God and the Goddess.

WIDDERSHINS:
The opposite of DEOSIL.
