Situation:
The Steel Crow is still working it's way through the Chaos March. On the bright side we should be able to link up with them in a week. Should be able to ring in the new year with family and friends. Ah well, on to business.

Kaitlyn and her engineering team should have the first couple Phoenix Hawks ready in a month. Will miss having those guys around, but Sarah will need them back on Solaris more than we need them here. Shouldn't hurt their morale any, being back home on Solaris VII and fighting the good fight.

Hm. I'm rambling again. Guess I'm going to have to face my fears instead of looking for every other possible distraction. I'm afraid to fight these Clanners. Sure the Diamond Sharks are nice enough, though a bit more like Steiner war profiteers than even they are willing to admit, I'll wager. But I've never fought these Clanners before. Last time I faced the Clans, the Steel Crows died. I don't want to lose anyone this time around. Don't want to lose anyone period, but have to be realistic about my job. The intel that the Sharks passed on--scratch that--the intel that I won/bought from them has given me some insight into the Cats' tactics, but every simulation that I've run has ended poorly for me. Even my notes from the Dragoon academy don't seem to help out much. If they'll fight using this 'zellbrigen,' we might have a better chance, Bruce being a duellist from his Solaris days. But that'll cut out my artillery and it's one-two punch. And if we fight them en-masse, then they can group their fire on us. I'm screwed either way.

There's got to be a way to break them, but I'll be damned if I can find it. Maybe after some sleep...

Success. Kind of. Those Nova Cats slapped us around something fierce. Sonja's Bandersnatch is back in the repair bays being stripped down. Almost got cored this time as opposed to having a torso blown off. Bruce's Osprey is missing an arm. Time to visit the Diamond Sharks for some replacement ER medium lasers. Sigh. Gonna be expensive.

We got one of those new Ocelot 'Mechs the ISF was interested in and retrieved the Combine troopers. Picked up three Nova Cat pilots as well as some good intel on a new hovertank the 'Cats are deploying. Even wiped out the entire attacking force without losing a single 'Mech. But that wasn't good enough for our Combine rep. Was all "One Ocelot, well, I'm sure you did the best you could for a mercenary from the Periphery." Prick. Just guaranteed that we'll be upping our asking price on any future mission by one-fourth. See how the Snakes like my 'asshole-tax!'

Hrm. Almost time for debriefing. Got lots of footage from this fight with the 'Cats. Between Raven and Rachelle, we should be able to deconstruct my tactics and hopefully improve our simulations. Would like to improve our performance--read that: lower the repair bill--if we have to face the Clanners again!
