Iron Tigers

Situation:
I'm still exhausted. Avon was months ago. The unit has been repaired as best we can. With the exception of Sarah's Spectors, the Iron Tigers are all back together. So why can't I sleep? Months of transit as we've been running from one end of the Inner Sphere takes its toll. Last message we got from home was good. All our people are starting to pull together--funny how an external threat of genocide tends to do that. Tyler's kids from NAIS, Blix's expatriats from ComStar, and my Taurians. Heh. Talk about strange bedfellows. The Fort is up and running--we've got Tyler's Stealth armor being produced and Blix's BattleArmor. With the 'Mechs I left from the cache, the Home Guard should be able to hold out for months.
Tyler has hooked back up with the Fed Suns--wonder how he explained that warship I found him? Hah! Four months of searching. Before finding that needle. Hope the Dracs don't miss it too bad.
Blix is God knows where doing God knows what. Probably pissing off the Blakists. Hope he's still covering his tracks. Left the codes for the nukes with my brother. Hope he doesn't have to use them. The Fort should be safe and well hidden so long as one of us doesn't do something stupid, like lead the Blakists back home.
Maybe I can't sleep because I'm still kind of worried about our combat skills. We've been rebuilding that assembly plant in the Fortune Hunter, searching for Lostech, hunting down Tyler's warship and running supplies for months on end. Tangling with the Nova Cats showed how rusty we are. The Lyrans want us to extract some VIPs on Donnegal. Lousy terrain, but no atmospherics that we could take advantage of. Bastards won't even let us hook up with them at night. They're trying to evade the Blakists and they're humping across the badlands during the middle of the day. Idiots! Sigh. Better try to get some sleep. My gut is telling me that this is going to be one hell of a fight.

Aftermath:
Well, there's a surprise for you--the 66th was in-system. Turns out that Blix and his people got hired to help out on this rescue mission. Coordination was pretty simple, send out one force after a decoy while the other rescues the target. Heh, if only it was that simple. Blix's people got beat up and we almost lost the people needing a rescue. Rachelle is pissed off since she and Foster were trying to escort the VIPs off the battlefield when their transport got crushed. Luckily Kym wasn't far away. Said that they were in bad shape, but most of the VIPs should pull through.
We did take those Blakists down. Even though it cost me a Charger. Jiang looked pretty shaken when he stepped off the transport. I had to remind him of the BlackHawk-KU I lost on Solaris VII. Besides, once Kaitlyn has that Marauder up and running, I'll assign it to Jiang. That should lift his spirits. At least there were some components we could salvage off the Charger.
Also picked up a pair of ancient Phoenix Hawks. Hustled those over to the Fortune Hunter. We'll see what Hannigan and his engineering team can do with them. Will be nice to see that investment start to pay off. Mmmmm, upgraded Phoenix Hawks. I like the sound of that.
No word from Sarah, but that doesn't surprise me. The Blakists have been keeping a pretty tight lid on reports from Solaris VII. Got to trust that when she's ready to lift off, she'll send us the signal.
Something about this Blakist "Hunter-Killer" unit has me troubled. Blix showed me the remains of that "Deva", as he's calling it, and its pilot. The guy was more machine than man. I remember Blix's earlier report, but didn't think that I'd ever see one of these Blakist 'super-soldiers' on the battlefield. Blix said he'd take that Omni off my hands. Truth to tell, I was glad just to have it off my ship. Seeing what the Wobbies are cooking up makes me worry even more about our people back at the Fort.
