Situation:
We're hitting the Capellans tomorrow. One raid to smash the R&D facility. One raid to snag Tyler's stealth armor and engineer. Major Blix's Thunderbolt pilot wasn't happy when she heard that she was going to be pulling dropship security. I really don't like getting involved in the 66th's internal politics. But the way he rolled his eyes when she walked away in a huff, I just knew that I would be her next target. Sure enough, an hour later there she was, standing outside my office. Okay. She wants a chance, I'll give her one to show me what she can do. Intel on this raid isn't looking very promising. Even with Sgt. Brick sending those Arrow IVs in from on high, I still think we're better off having her T-Bolt there working as a sniper than back guarding the Fortune Hunter. In truth, I figured on changing the roster at the last minute anyways, but not going to tell her that. Heh, Blix owes me one for this. Hope she's half as good as she says she is.

Ah, Sgt. Brick and his merry band of tankers. Stocky, cigar chomping, swearing Sgt. Brick. I liked him and his people immediately. An Arrow IV variant Demolisher with the words 'reach out and touch someone' stenciled on the turret launcher. They're going to fit in real well with the rest of the Tigers, if he can impress me with the first mission. A lot riding on this one. Another two pronged assault. I complete the mission for Earthwerks while Blix and Ferris raid the Tao warehouses and snatch Tyler's stealth armor with the defecting engineer. Can't wait to see how the modifications to those Chameleons pan out.

Another day, another mission, another snafu. The medium to heavy resistance turned out to be four heavies and an assault--including two of those stealth Crusaders. I knew it was a lost cause the moment I saw those two 'Mechs disappear from my screens. Thank God for those Arrow IVs. Alistaire and Frankie wanted to stick around and fight it out. Kept those two on the sidelines for too long. Course, they were busy enough playing hide-and-seek with that assault and the two Crusaders. They didn't see how badly Voss was getting beaten up. I could've sworn I saw her take at least two shots to the head. That Lao Hu is a pretty nice design.

Frankie and Alistaire worked well as a team. Nice to see the cross-training paying off. Especially since I had them in two 'Mechs that they weren't used to piloting. Well, the Capellans got a bloody nose. Tao Mechworks lost an R&D facility. Blix snatched Tyler's stealth armor and engineer right out from under the Cappie's noses. And we're burning for orbit. Nice to see that Ferris is back on his feet--or his Avatar's as the case may be. Wish we could've netted some salvage from this mission, but sometimes you have to look at the larger perspective. I can replace machines. But not people. The team is starting to coalesce into the concrete strikeforce I envisioned back at the Dragoon academy. They just need some more experience.

Wycoffe was back to normal. Avatar smashed up, but he and Blix brought me surprises in addition to the objective armor and engineer. Not one, but TWO Stealth Crusaders and a trio of light 'Mechs we can salvage for parts. Though what had me scratching my head was when they showed up with a MechWarrior and a platoon of foot infantry (with dependants) in tow. Gotta hand it to Ferris, make the Tao security team an offer they can't refuse and they'll turn. I wasn't too interested in troopers of questionable loyalty, until I met their C.O.: one Leutnant Brenda McCabe. Turns out that they were a down-and-out merc unit who was being 'company stored' by the Tao board of directors. All they wanted was a way out of their contract and off planet. McCabe seems nice enough, and more importantly, seems interested in providing security as well as cross training in BattleArmor operations. If our next mission goes as planned, they'll be a very welcome addition to the team. Now where to put them all...

The MechWarrior was a little more difficult to figure out. Seems Jiang Wu Shi wanted to see the universe (along with his little sister), or so he says. Going to have Blix keep an eye on him and his kid sister for the time being. But Ferris says that he handled that Crusader like a pro, so he'll either play ball, or we'll drop him and his sister off somewhere along the line.

Well, off to the rendevous point. Tyler gets his stealth armor up front, I get my Clan-tech weapons down the road. Going to need the extra firepower real quick. If the reports I got from WolfNet are true--the attack on Outreach, Jamie Wolf's death, the razing of Harlech--I think that things are going to get very tough for mercs in the future. Pretty soon, all we might have is each other. I hope that Blix and Tyler can see how important this alliance between our units is, and will be in the upcoming years. With the attack on Outreach, we might have to step up our plans...hm, Kaitlyn's at the door. We lost too many friends on Outreach. Time to have a drink to honor the dead.
