Tomorrow morning, after all this is rough-drafted yesterday and today, I shall awake with a cup of coffee holding a dash of scotch whiskey J&B for the awakened scribblings paper words here last minute waking up from long sleep almost ten hours mmmm at last at long last I am recovering and beginning to feel like a human being again, at long last rested after that madness on the road that ended only a week ago now, yes, oh yes was only so long ago long long long ago now only a week ago was it only a week ago no it is only another moment now before I take all this to the internet tomorrow so
Too bad I got a cold yuck. It must have been the stress of driving and not getting enough sleep that let my resistance down and I caught a cold and have had it five days now well the worst seems over I didn't take a cold pill today only asperin.
Can't say much else about being sick except that I try to sleep a lot and haven't been to internet in three, no, four days. That's my cure for the infectious curse: rest. Oh, and yes, a lot of fluids which means I am peeeeeeeiiiinnnnnnggggg much more hmmmm and until tonight will not sleep soundly through the hours after midnight, keep waking up and going. But tonight, I can tell you tomorrow today, will be different. Ahhhh.
Went to hear a couple poets last Tuesday at the CECUT. Came home early and wrote for a while and read and knew I was getting sick that I would wake up sick the next day. Not positive thinking but I could feel the sandbags washing away and the weakness crumbling under my very touch. I got a cold yuck.
It must have been the stress of driving and not sleeping very well, yes. No. I got home Monday afternoon and by Tuesday night I knew it was tooo late....
SO THEN Meanwhile I was sitting around blowing my nose for four days and writing about many things including when I was younger and went to Washingtown D.C.
ARRIVAL BRIDGE LOST PAGES
Tere is here we're going to rent together?
Today we went to look at a house in La Mesa only 4 blocks from 5 & 10 corner. Strange place with yard and trees very much cleaner and open than I'd anticipated I keep thinking how overall nice it is yes at the end of one street up around another somehow we passed by the prison when we were looking for the house hmmm we were on the wrong side of the boulevard yes.
Street has a world famous name I didn't know it when we were looking and didn't find out until later tonight at home shining extra light on my my city map to read the tiny fine print when I looked and there it was Junipero Serra that takes it, history, I have to live there, have to move there, change my identification address yes State of California knows I live in Tijuana and they have
But I digress yes that but no I don't want to leave downtown no. Yes.
Things are getting more expensive everywhere. The benefit of that other house is its location. Smack dab in the middle of another humming node of the city, yet tucked away in a shadow. So close to transportation by taxi and or bus to the N, to the E, to W and S
But I don't want to leave downtown even if the heart of La Mesa is a significant other to capture and compare my partnership with Tia Juana aunt Jane yes?
$350. The sala and comedor are big reach across the small house. For a little old duplex - which is all that it is - it seems larger inside because of the bigger sala and comedor. Go figure. The kitchen is... adequate. We could tuck in a washer and dryer. We would have a bedroom and I would have an office.
It appears to be one of those numbers trucked across the border fifty years ago and cobbled together here - a lot of the wood frame houses came over that way - most of the local construction is cement block but hundreds of old wood frame houses were sold south in the 70s, 80s, etcet.
There is a papaya tree, an orange tree and a banana tree, and a couple other trees in nearby yards. A hint of green that helps. Big back yard all flat cement. Can park there off the street, eh?
I told you the world famous prison is over there across the boulevard, and well, Burger King is down there, too, on the boulevard. The big 5 & 10 corner with its new overpass bridges is only three or four blocks away. It is a hard core central node of megalopolis right there, an intriguing nexus or dare I say it core of the matrix to explore all the little shops and big stores etcetera.
We could do worse. But I don't want to leave downtown.
Tere will be staying with me starting this week. She's leaving her girlfriends place and coming to stay with me. That's why she's in a hurry to pick a place. But I say hey, let's go carefully here and get what we really want, and anyway, not pay much more than 300 okay?
And maybe move in next door in one of the apartments that Carlos and his brother have available across the park yes. Where I live where I make believe I do not live on Third instead of Fourth heh heh go figure.
Some of it is true. Well, all of it, actually, if you can decode the double negatives etcet.
This would be my third wife.
La amarga 1975-1984, la furiosa 1993-1996, y ya la potosina 2001-2040.
Don't ask.
