not apo strophe remember

This one was for you, Chris, but you probably already know about the LIBCong AmeriHISTORY site, still... it's unbelievably cool & hot n'est-ce pas?  Sorry I couldn't find Zaltieri.  Let me know if you have his address!  AND good luck with your studies... for sitting that exam... fingers crossed and toque madera here for you.  P.S.: Love living with someone, I was ready.

Ortelius, 1587; Tiguex (at Pacific Ocean)
Zaltieri, 1566; Tiguas (on River to Gulf)

TIJUANA, often called T.J., or Tiyei, or Tijei, or Tijuas, bears a name which curiously (make a curio out of this, if you can) resembles the name of a mythical (alias legendary) country and/or city (think the double meaning in "alias legendary") who appears on early modern maps drawn by European mapmakers of the XVI century.

No, I am not kidding.  Just a little further, and you can check one out yourself from the great hyperspace library.

No, I am absolutely serious.

Tiguas (aka Teguex, Tiguex etc.) was the name of this legendary land, and it was located in the little-explored regions of north-western New Spain, generally lying between Quivira (which would become California/Oregon) and Cibola (as in "Seven Cities of" = New Mexico/Pueblos).

Sometimes the Colorado River itself bears the name of Tiguas River, and the city of Tiguas was set down on its western shores, near where Las Vegas, or Hoover Dam, or Laughlin were later created.  Think of that when you feed those quarters and dollars into the progressive slots.  You might have been foreseen by Zoltieri, 1566.

Our favorite, however, is the Ortellius map(s) of 1587, where Tiguex is a city right on the Pacific coastline almost exactly where Tijuana sits today.  Yes.  Our beloved Tijuas, just spelled differently.

Will wonders never cease?  Praise God, no they won't.  (NO matter what lies your interrogators may tell you, and theyou are allowed to lie, you know, my sweet Wraptaur and other Huach friends yes for God's sake keep your noses clean and don't fall like those others...)

X-cues me.  Digression.  There is no spoon.  ON-ly words OFF.  AccesS nauw.... granted.

Continue.

We have always known from our earliest dreams of childhood that we were living in mythological time and space.  But such confirmation from distant Europe, four-hundred fifty years ago, is always redundantly welcome.

Yes, Virginia, there is time-travel.  (But now I am lying.)

Meanwhile a rooster crows out loud in New Tijuana as I write this draft - un gallo canta en Nueva Tijuana.  He, at least, is not a foreigner next door to where he grew up.  But, his ancestors... were they?
