Shopping list: milk, matches, hamburger fixings, chips, potatoes, soda...

if my love comes home early enough we will have hamburguesas but so often she comes home and isn't hungry and lies down to take a nap while the telenovela soap operas drone on and on and I am still waiting for us to have our first fight maybe it will be tonight... oh we've had fights/disagreements before but none since we moved in we're about due I think yes... see if we can manouvre our way through telling honestly how we both feel and....

the damn street dog is following me everywhere I say no, I throw stones, I finally fake him out and disappear behind a car and get away to go to the supermarket down on Industrial Boulevard

earlier this morning he followed me to internet where I typed yesterday's entry I am running a day late that's right this is already typing tomorrow and hell I already know everything so what

like I said the damn street dog (I hate it that he's cute, I hate it that he likes me, I hate it that I like him eeesh yeeesh smeesh) followed me to internet and went right inside and the people there are who is this dog and they all look at me and I could have killed that cute little mutt THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR GIVING HIM FOOOOOOOOD oh yes I blew it... so I had to get up twice from the computer to chase the bitch out and ugh.

Last night, Sunday, after all out wanderings through the street market (WITH YOU KNOW WHO TAGGING ALONG BEHIND US and Tere going cluck cluck cluck laugh laugh laugh your shadow is following you mi querido tlacuilo Daniel eeee look what you get for feeding him)

last night I started reading a Heavy book dense detailed scholarly bla bla bla endless examples and analyses but hey it's my madness my love of Mesoamerica the book is one I received as payment for some translation Luisa and I did last year for IFE de UNAM.  El universo sagrado de la serpiente entre los mayas by Mercedes de la Garza.  The title itself is a real mouthful and she quotes Thompson too many times to suit my taste but hey I am having fun reading slowly through it and stretching my Spanish and my knowledge of modern scholarship upon an ancient American people one of the greatest that ever were, everyone says OH MY THEY INVENTED THE NUMBER Zero as if that were enough to show how splendid they were and... oh well I am still mad at the dog and I should NOT BE because as a Maya guy told me in Yucatan five years ago, that his Maya grandfather told him, the animals know things.  So maybe this damn little street dog knows something I do not know.  Yeah, like what a sucker I am for a starving pinto-colored beast mmm-hmmm that's it all right....

Our landlady invited us downstairs yesterday for Sunday lunch, around three p.m., the main meal of the day it is here, la comida, and it wassss deliciousssss mmmmm yes, and very very welcome as we have been getting really tired of chewing bread and I still had not put the little stove together (I did this morning...

She and her husband have lived here twenty some years, since before the Otay gate was opened over nearby and before all the factories and import export houses and warehouses opened up and all the trucks began to roar on the boulevard, from back when the "planned neighborhood" of Nueva Tijuana was first laid out with all its geometric weird organization and surreal right-angle order of streets that appear and disappear and walkways between different blocks and I think I know I feel I am going to really like living here hell I already do, even the damn dog is charming in his cute little obnoxious bitchy way, yes.
