Why are you doing this, for free, on your own time? What are you getting out of it?

I am generally a person that is sketchy about receiving money for activites outside of work. Usually, if the person who I'm doing the favour for is a friend, I will not think twice of doing the service for free. Even with strangers, however, I like to be nice.
Out of this, I get the satisfactin of knowing that I have shared my vintage collection with someone who otherwise would not have had access to that particular item. Vintage pattern availablitly varies, and even counting that, most vintage materials are one of-a-kind. I dislike collectors that are hoarders, and believe that resources should be shared. Also, I know that Vintage is not a cheap sport. I find things quite cheaply, but know that some people lack money or time for this.
Also, since it is an exchange, I get something back! To me, a pattern [or whatever barter I receive] has many valuable aspects to it. There is, of course the pattern design itself. The amount of ease. The wording of the older manuals. The old sewing techniques. The style of illustration.

Can you *just* send me a copy of a pattern, now?

Uh, sorry. I don't have enough time or resources to just fill out pattern orders for free, as they come in. Plus, that would be taking advantage of my philantropic nature, would it not?
You will have to give me *something*.

Like what kind of things do I need to give you?
Anything involved with ephemera, vintage, or collecting. Well, almost everything, you *do* still have to email me the request.
Here are some things I'm into: old yearbooks, phongraph records, old postcards / newpaper fashion ads / the like, old sheet music, old photos [w/ fashion!], Art Deco, Art Nouveau.....
When making an exchange, it is a 1:1 ratio. I copy one full pattern for you [the huge combo patterns *may* need a larger exchange offering], and you give me [er, email or snail mail] one of what we agreed on. I can only really work on 2 patterns max, per person, per request. But you can always email me a month later and maybe I'll have some time freed up.
