A Cloak Of Darkness
by midnightrain

Darkness shadows over light
As evil surmounts good
And I break down at the thought
That the darkness should

Darkness was my companion
Ever shadowing my face
Keeping me from prying eyes
In a powering black embrace

But darkness is quite jealous
She keeps me for herself
For now I don't need her covering
I throw her onto a dusty shelf

I've found a light in my life
A safe and warm companion
And as my life is turned around
My face shall see the sun

But darkness does not like this
And she decides to end my glee
For she thrives upon my suffering
She doesn't care for me

Her silky shadow floats
Around you through the air
Waiting, watching for a moment
A time of your despair

And when she sees your desperation
She pounces eagerly
Like poisoned wine, she pours inside
Just like she did to me

Her evil consumes your heart
And her sufferring eats your soul
Her hopelessness destroys your dreams
And turns your heart to coal

Her dark shadow ties around
Your throat as you wish for death
And wraps so tightly you feel numb
She stifles your last breath

The darkness has taken
Another innocent life
And as I cry for you and me
Again she feeds upon my strife

The darkness covers me
Her evil destroys my last light
And again my heart turns black
As I fade into the night
