Letting Go
by Shelly, OH

How do you know when to let go, when things aren't working out
You worry so much and cry a lot from so much fear and doubt
What can you do to make him feel the same way you feel
It's too late.  He's gone now, and this time it's for real
You knew you had to let him go, cause you deserve much better
But endless tears roll down your face as you read his letters
He'd buy you a ring and loved you so much, at least that's what he said
It hurt so much to find out that you had been misled
You wonder constantly if he ever thinks of you
You can't make him want you; there's nothing you can do
You think maybe he'll realize and come back to you someday
But you know it won't happen; things will never go your way
You don't want him to know your hurting, but you really want to call
Just to see if he misses you, or if he even cares at all
You've stayed up so many times, crying all night long
Things were going great, and you wonder what went wrong
But you knew that it was over such a long time ago
You kept trying to work it out; you didn't want to let him go
He knew he had your love, but he took advantage of it
You only wanted him, but it seemed he could not commit
