Old computers never die, they can just be given away. Nationally, local not-for-profit Recyclers are collecting and up-grading early PCs. To expand the availability of PC computers in our nation's local community schools and classrooms.
Internationally, these local not-for-profit Recyclers are also shipping early PCs to third world countries. Around the globe PC computing is still a Microsoft DOS and IBM OS world; with early 8086, 286, and 386, machines still in common use.
As recycling and technology advance, the availability of early DOS and DOS/Windows compatible software - shareware applications and utilities, prior to 1990, is disappearing. Lost in an avalanche as Microsoft technology once again "shifts gears" [from DOS to Windows 3.+ to Windows 95, and now 98+ and beyond. Large public access archives continue to expand to accommodate ever newer entries. Smaller special interest archives discard to up-grade and update their collections. While small "individually" maintained special interest collections are hard to find on and off the internet.
