BUTTONS AND BARS

Here are low cost alternatives to MS Windows 3.+, 95+, and 98, opening screen displays. "Buttons And Bars".

For this review we will look at a shareware program called * DESKMENU *, by Overware Systems, as an example of how Windows can be improved. What can DeskMenu do for you? DeskMenu is a low profile, text based, drop menu bar, alternative utility for the opening screens of both Windows 3.+, 95+, and 98.

HELLO CLEAN SCREENS AND CLEAR WORK SPACE.

Goodby Buttons, Goodby Program Manager Workgroups, Goodby Tool Bar Items You Don't Need, Goodby Tool Bar Menus You Can't Read!

DeskMenu places a slim line Menu Bar at the top or bottom of your screen. Only active application icons appear at the bottom of the screen. As your desktop manager, DeskMenu allows you to set up to nine menu drop-box "headings" to categorize up to 25 application "entries" per heading. You organize DeskMenu to accomodate over 125 of your program needs. You can use capital letters and text colors to enhance menu text. Separate low vision magnification [full screen or spot] can also be used.

"Always on top" DeskMenu is always available to go directly to the drop menu and call any application or utility without having to return to [or go through] your desktop, Program Manager, or Workgroups. DeskMenu is simple and looks like DOS text based drop menus in Windows. Screen reading Speech Synthesizers should have no problem identifying and reading DeskMenu's drop menus and scroll bar selections.

All drop menus are alpha-numeric sensitive, text based, with scroll bar access. An optional "info bar" shows time, date and up to six different system resources. DeskMenu supports "drag and drop". DeskMenu responds to standard Windows "key -stroke- commands" and can be used without a mouse.
