BIGGER - BETTER - FASTER
The Future Of Adaptive Speech Technology Is Still In The Chips

In the face of ever rapid escalation in speech technology, is the "Power - Byte - Gap". This article is not presented or represented to be the current and definitive "Cutting - Edge" of evolving speech technology.

If you are dependent upon adaptive computing technology, you probably use two, or more, applications together. Many adaptive applications [such as Speech Dictation, Synthesis, and Optical Charector Recognition] have evolved from independently powered, external "Smart Boxes", with more "power" than their host computer. As computer power increased these programs were taken inside as software applications.

Today they have become ever increasing "Power - Hungry" programs. Now programming directly to take "full" advantage of "all" the annually escalating processor -CPU- power, as well as the growing addition of minimum memory requirements. It's all in the chips! Are you?

Adaptive computer users behind the front - line of technology, use PCs 386, 486, early Pentium, with minimum memory requirements. Which are now both inadequate and obsolete. The MMV co-processor chip can only provide a "quick fix" for newer Pentium processors. In most instances up - grading to state of the art programs already requires substantial computer re-construction, or [better yet] a whole new computer. Computer chips take money. The only chips that make money are "blue"!

Some applications, combined by multi-tasking, already have power requirements equal to a PC Pentium 250+, with 64+ mg of memory. At this current rate, just to stay ahead of the next generation of up-grades, you may need a PC Pentium 300+ and 128 + mg memory.

The purpose of this presentation is to focus on speech applications for PCs 386DX, 486/66/16, early Pentium, with minimum memory requirements, running MS Dos Windows 3.+ through 95+. A retrospective featuring those applications which have just become "affordable", due to the latest techno - tidal - wave of new products, and before they disappear into obsolescence.

Short -of- buying a new computer, short -of- reconstructing your existing computer, and short of cash. Even if you have a PC and are only "thinking about" adding adaptive speech technology. "Get -It- Now" while you can, then "Use -It- Later" when you are ready. Prices have never been better, and available stocks have been never been lower, while they last!
