Charlie Chowder's Greek & Turkish Odyssey

Charlie and Tim have been on many great trips together, but Charlie felt that Tim was cramping his style a bit, so he decided to go off on a voyage with Barbara, Kaye's Mum. They decided to follow the great Greek hero Odysseus (Ulysses to the Romans) by taking a cruise around the Mediterranean Sea to Greece and Turkey.

Here Charlie & Barbara visit the world famous Parthenon on the Acropolis in Athens.
Charlie looks over Athens from the Acropolis.
Charlie & Babs make an offering at the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion. Poseidon is the Greek god of the Sea (Neptune to the Romans). Charlie was especially keen to make an offering since he is soon to go in a ship across the stormy Southern Ocean to Antarctica.
Charlie trying (and failing) to get a sun tan on the party island of Mykonos.
A local tells Charlie about the "hottest" spots on Mykonos.
Charlie peers over the amazing volcanic island of Santorini, which exploded 3,500 years ago. The huge explosion and tidal wave is supposed to have wiped out the Minoan Civilization on nearby Crete, where Theseus killed the Minotaur.
Charlie & friend check out an old Amphitheatre at Ephuseus in western Turkey.
Charlie inspecting the "facilities" at Epheseus. Boy it must have been cold in the winter!
Charlie discusses the rise and fall of the Greek cities in Asia minor with a couple of local academics.
