Banff - Jasper

Banff is another of the stopping places built into the Canadian Pacific Railroad and the Banff Springs Hotel was the first (and arguably the greatest) of the CPR hotels. Originally built in the late 19th century, it was, for many years, the largest hotel in the world. The view from the bar may not be quite as breathtaking as from Lake Louise, but it isn't bad.

From the bar
In the distance on the panoramic shot and bottom right you can see Lake Miniwanka. The Canadians don't get the joke. Not quite as colourful as some of the others we saw, its strength is in the geology that surrounds it. Just in case you think I'm making the name up, check out the second shot.
