On March 31, 1955 one of the world's greatest guitarists was born. Angus Young was born in Glasgow Scotland. Angus was unenthusiastic in school except for art which allowed him some freedom of expression. At about the age of 14 Angus started practicing the guitar almost constantly, playing with friends and at school dances. But at the age of 15 he dropped out of school and went to work for a magazine as a printer. |

In the beginning Angus fouled around with Malcom's guitars until years after his mother got him his own cheap acoustic. By the time Angus was 11 had tried a tutorial course but he preferred to learn by himself by trial and error mostly. When Angus was trying to create a distinctive stage personality, his older brother Malcom was making plans for his new band. Angus' spasmodic, seemingly out-of-control onstage body language has always come naturally. Such trademark Angus moves as his patented duckwalk and his on-the-floor body spasms could be handy attention-getting devices when playing for drunken, rowdy barroom crowds. Many of these gestures grew out of accidents. |

One night Tantrum, the pre-AC/DC band Angus was playing with, was going down really badly. He made it look like a death scene, screaming all hell from the guitar. It was the only clap they got that night. Angus told his brother about it. Malcolm asked him to join the band he was putting together. |
