Sir Charles Tupper was born in Amherst Nova Scotia on July 2nd 1821. He went to the University of Edinburgh(Medicine), Scotland. In 1846, he married Frances Morse. They had three sons and also they had three daughters. He first practised as a country doctor in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia.
From 1857-1860 and 1863-1867 he was Provincial Secretary of the Province of Nova Scotia. From 1867-1870 he was the President of the Canadian Medical Association. From 1870-1872 he was President of the Privy Council.
In 1873 he worked in Customs of Canada. In 1879-1884 he worked in Railways and Canals. He was the Premier of Nova Scotia from 1864 to 1867 and during that time he attended Confederation Confernces of Charlottetown 1864, Quebec 1864, and London 1866. He was High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 1884 to 1887 and 1888 to 1896.
He died October 1915 in Bexley Health, England. His body was transported the Nova Scotia and buried in St. John's Cemetery, Halifax Nova Scotia. |
