Daeldron & Saphyra

. (From the Saphyra's Memoirs, with .
. some poetic license) .

There were no Masters present
When ex-Leader Daeldron died.
His wife Saphyra stood there
But never over his corpse cried:
The Ragers killed her outright
When his Final Death was won.
And so, with no reason left to live
She faded away from the sun.

The day they came together
It was done by Dalamar,
A guild-bro of Saphyra's
Who had dreams of going far.
A business partnership fell through,
But Dael become her lover,
And then her darling husband
Over whom demons would hover.

Then betrayal hit them,
Merodrach was his name.
The acts that he committed
Brought Masters Cabal to shame.
Rager Relon found Saphyra
Bleeding in the street,
And after cussing Masters out
He pulled her to her feet.

He took her to the dragon's lair
Beneath fair Galadon,
Killed the red dragon for her, and
Had her put its armor on.
More would he have done for her,
But duty called his name,
Saph released brother Relon
And told Daeldron of the shame.

Daeldron was appalled to learn
His wife was helped by Relon.
He likened it to an Arbiter's wife
Hobnobbing with a felon.
Quick was he to lodge complaint
Against a fellow Master.
The murderous acts of Merodrach
Could only bring disaster.

As honorary Master made,
Safety was guarranteed her.
But much too soon Saphyra's love
Became the Masters' Leader.
Long he spent in conference
With Masters' great God Twist,
And Saphyra patiently waited
For her husband sorely missed.

Daeldron now held a power mace
Which would soon win fame.
Ave. 27, 5 Hit, 5 Dam,
And 'saphyra' was its name.
Lord Twist had made this weapon
And gave it 'noremove.'
A tribute to their lasting love
The power mace would prove.

For always wielded in battle
Was the mace named for his bride
So that even when she wasn't there
She was fighting at his side.
But whene'er it was possible
She joined him on a raid,
Adding her strength and assassin's
Skill to give the Masters aid.

And in times of peace, with Daeldron,
She'd view the results of the quests
Of Master Cabal candidates,
And listen as they took their tests.
Daeldron and Saphyra conferred,
And he listened to her views
Of what she thought of the young ones,
And her counsel helped him choose.

Their lives were oft interrupted
By mana transfers, enchants,
Exchanges of good weapons...
You'd think: Not much time for romance.
Yet they made the time, and they hid
From Masters and Ragers alike.
Their days were busy with cabal work,
But at night loving passion would strike.

Toward the end, late in their lives,
Rager Shun killed Saphyra in town.
The Arbiters did not flag him
For bringing Daeldron's lady down.
Then Grunk told Saphyra, "Let's get him,"
And a great "PK" group was formed.
Masters and Shadow joined forces
And to Battle Cabal they stormed.

Before that cruel night was over
Many BattleRagers died
Because one of their number
The laws of Thera defied.
And the Magician's Head was taken
And the Ragers lost their power.
What had begun as victory
Now turned the Ragers sour.

But Ragers got their revenge when
Daledron was thrice killed by Shun
And four times by the Destructor.
Then the Banshees sang for fun.
And then happened an event
The Ragers could only term tragic,
For mighty Rager Assassin Shun
Decided to practice magic.

The magic/anti-magic war
Raged on (it rages still).
Daeldron led attacks on Battle
Victory gave him a thrill.
Often Saphyra was with him,
Healing him along the way
To prevent an early Final Death,
But she could not have her way.

He chose to die as he had lived:
Battle's Destructor fighting.
It took him in a single round
'Cause Final Death was inviting.
It was fitting that the Destructor
Of Magic should Daeldron kill,
For he was truly Magic
And had no great warrior skill.

Yes, there were no Masters present
When ex-Leader Daeldron died.
His wife Saphyra stood there
But never over his corpse cried.
Sastumonger killed her outright
When Dael's Final Death was won
So, with no reason left to live
She faded away, undone.

[Historic Note: This was the most difficult commission Esarvee ever took on. This song took nearly a month to write, and often she did not want to post it because she was not entirely pleased with a verse or a rhyme. It was commissioned by Jorak the Warrior who felt that an historic chronicle of Daeldron, ex-Leader of Master, and Saphyra the Assassin, would enrich the lore of Thera as well as act as a tribute to his love of magic (despite the fact that the warrior could not cast a single spell). It was also the first time she used a character's logged sessions to look up information for a song, to keep to historical accuracy.]
