The CD-R page
This page has some info and links for CD recorder users. My own recorder is a Philips CDD3801
with firmware 1.06.
As recording software, I use the supplied Adaptec Easy CD Creator
3.5, updated to version 3.5c (updates here).
Adaptec's web site has a lot of good information on CD recording.
I have tried out a lot of both cheap and expensive CD-R blanks. Their
ATIP (Absolute Time In Pre-groove) data,
recorded with CD-R Identifier and
cdrecord, together with
my own experience and test results with the Philips recorder and different CD-ROM drives, are available here.
Good utility software (mostly free) is available at the following websites:
Erik Deppe's CD programs Very useful utilities for benchmarking, DAE etc.
LAME - the MP3 encoder that isn't one - Download Windows binaries - LameBatch Frontend
CDex - a good DAE program with LAME integration
The best program for recording audio CDs is IMHO Feurio!®.
It records in DAO (Disc At Once) mode, which is more compatible than TAO (Track At Once).
A good German information and update page is Brennmeister.
The best English information site is Andrew McFadden's CD-Recordable FAQ.
For more information on blanks see CD Media World.
