TEMPERS
ARETE(MAGE ONLY): A rating of the mystical will of a Mage. A measure how well they can perform Magick. Roll Arete to perform any magickal feat. The amount of Arete a Mage possesses is the maximum Dots allowable in any sphere. and 1 focus becomes unnecessary, starting with the first sphere learned(Tradition Sphere). If Permanent Willpower is lower than Arete, the difference cannot be used until Willpower is Raised. After Awakening, it is hard to gain Arete. See pg 134 of MAGE for more info.
BANALITY(CHNGELING ONLY): This is the extent a Kithian has been infected by the mundane world. If Banality exceeds Glamour, they begin to revert to their Mortal Seeming and forget who they really are. All things have Banality, it is difficulty to cast a cantrip or enchantment on someone or thing. Changelings may use Banality to resist cantrips or hide in their seemings, but risk being lost. See pp. 180-181 of CHANGELING for more info.
CONSCIENCE(MOST VAMPIRES): This is used to measure how Vampire's really feel about what is happening around them and how they feel about their actions. While this is mostly role-played, this trait is rolled to see if any Humanity(or Path) is lost when committing an act that goes against the list of Sins. In the Sabbat, this is called CALLOUSNESS. See pg. 175 of VAMPIRE for more info.
CORPUS(WRAITH ONLY): This is the Health Levels of a Wraith. Points are lost whenever the real world moves through the space a Wraith occupies or in combat. At 0 corpus, a wraith is sent into the Tempest, where they may never return. Wraith's start at 10 Corpus and regain Corpus by spending Pathos or Sleeping. See pp. 135-136 of WRAITH for more info.
COURAGE(MOST VAMPIRES): The Bravery, tenacity and perseverance of a Vampire. It is used to resist Rotschreck, or Terror/Flight Frenzies. In the Sabbat, this is called MORALE. See pg. 175 of VAMPIRE for more info.
GLAMOUR(CHANGELING ONLY): This is the magick and magickal energy of all Changelings. It is the power of raw, pure dreams and creativity and it is these things all at the same time. Everyone has it, but only the Fae can use it. Glamour is noticable to all Fae as a multicolored light. It is gained by creating something, inspiring someone else to create something, or spending time in a place of concentrated Glamour(Freehold). It is used to enhance cantrips or enchant mortals. See pg. 179 of CHANGELING for more info.
GNOSIS(GAROU ONLY): A Garou's link to the Umbra and Gaia. The higher Gnosis, the better link. Gnosis can't be used at the same time as RAGE. Gnosis is used in Gifts, rituals and attuning fetishes. Carrying silver reduces the amount of Gnosis a Garou has access to temporarily. It is gained through Sacred Hunts at Moots, deals with spirits and meditation. Roll Wits+Enigmas(dif 8). Regain 1 per hour per success. For each extra time during the week meditating, raise difficulty by 1. See pp. 156-157 of WEREWOLF for more info.
HUMANITY(MOST VAMPIRES): The remains of a Vampire's mortal nature. It tells how well they are succeeding in resisting the Beast Within. The lower the Humanity, the more control the Beast gains over the Kindred. Humanity is also how many dice can be rolled for any action taken during the day, the maximum dice rolled for virtues, how long Vampires remain in Torpor and what acts seem completely natural to them. The lower the Humanity, the more 'evil' acts a Vampire will take. NOTE: Not all Vampires have Humanity. Some totally embrace their new nature and abandon the remains of their Humanity. But, since Humanity is what Keeps the Beast at bay, they adopt a system beliefs to live by that keeps the Beast in control. These are called PATHs. The more common Paths are detailed in the VPG, PGtS, STGtS and DSotBH. All Sabbat use Paths. See pg. 176 of VAMPIRE for Humanity info.
PATHOS(WRAITH ONLY): The power of a Wraith's attunement to the real world. It is fueled by their Passions. Passions are certain emotions that a Wraith is strongly drawn to. By causing someone to feel those emotions, feeling them themselves or just being around someone feeling them, a Wraith can recharge their Pathos pool. Maximum Pathos is 10. See pp. 136-137 of WRAITH for more info.
PURITY(BLOOD, GYPSIES ONLY): How much of a Rom someone is. Even inactivity in the Gypsy ways will decrease this rating. It runs 1-5. For each dot possessed, a character may have 1 Blood Affinitity. The higher the Rure Blood, the more of a 'True Rom' a person is. See pg. 54 of WOD: GYPSIES for more info.
RAGE(GAROU ONLY): The primal fury inherent in Garou. It is the reckless, dangerous power which created the Delerium. With it, Garou can accomplish great feats of power. Crinos is an expression of Rage. Garou use Rage to frenzy, a mad berzerker bloodlust that can overcome them in battle. By spending a point of Rage they gain 1 extra action, resist the stun of taking more wound levels than STAMINA or when dropped to incapacitated, roll Rage(dif 8) and regain 1 wound per success, regardless of type. They must also roll another die and add it to the other roll and consult the Battle Scars Table for effects. Only their DEXTERITY can be spent in Rage per turn. If Rage is ever greater than Willpower, the Garou is -1 die to all Social Rolls and more prone to Frenzy. With 0 Rage or Willpower, they immediately revert to breed form until they have at least 1 point in both. Rage can't be gained without 1 Willpower. Rage is regained by seeing the moon each night, full for Auspice moon, 1 under a new moon, 2 under waning moons, 3 for waxing or half moons and 4 for a full moon, if they are signifigantly humiliated, or great confrontations. SELF-CONTROL(MOST VAMPIRES): The measure of a Vampire's restraint, used to resist Frenzies. For the Sabbat, this is called INSTINCTS. Characters can never roll more Self-Control dice than in their Blood-Pool. See pg. 175 of VAMPIRE for more info.
WILLPOWER: The measure of the power of a persons convictions. It is their mental strengh and raw, primal desire to succeed in tasks and trials set before them. This is used to give an automatic success to any action undertaken by spending 1 Willpower. Also, by spending Willpower, Derangements can be temporarily avoided, frenzies halted, magickal botches stopped and other, instinctual, things countered. There are many other uses for Willpower based off different abilities, powers and Phenomena found in the World Of Darkness. Willpower is recovered in game play by fulfilling requirements based on the nature of the character. See pp. 176-178 of VAMPIRE for more info.
