We Will Miss You Ray

Obituary

Raymond Louis Johnson was born on February 12, 1965 to Mrs. Sarah and Mr. Albert Johnson. He departed from labor to his "final refeshment" on Monday, December 9th at 1:30pm.

Raymond attended P.S. 25 and J.H.S. 57 in Brooklyn and Grover Cleveland H.S. in Ridgewood Queens. He was a life long member of Tiberia Baptist Church in Brooklyn where he confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age. Growing up in Tiberia, Raymond was a member of the children's choir, The Barksdale Gospelettes and he played the drums during church services, something he enjoyed doing very much.

On November 24, 1986, Raymond was joined in Holy Matrimony to Lisa Harrell. To this union was born three beautiful daughters, Melissa, Cynthia and Cortney. Raymond was a highly skilled motorist and loved to drive sometimes more than he loved to eat or sleep. He used his love of driving to help countless numbers of injured people by volunteering his services as an ambulance driver for the Bedford-Stuyvesant Ambulance Corps. As a Bed-Stuy vollie, Raymond was responsible for helping many sick and injured people obtain the medical assistance they needed.

Raymond was such a charming fellow who possessed a smile uniquely his own. He was known for his laughter and never failed to bring that laughter to the hearts of everyone he came in contact with. Raymond had a love for people in general and seemed to have a special way with older folks who came in contact with him. But above all, he had an abiding love for his three girls.
In them, Raymond will always live on.

He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his parents, Mrs. Sarah and Mr. Albert S. Johnson, Sr.; three daughters, Melissa Chante, Cynthia Nicole and Cortney Marie; one sister, Felicia Ellerbe; two brothers, Albert S. Johnson Jr. and Timothy A. Johnson; one grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Etta Campbell, Patrick, S.C.; eight aunts, Isabelle barksdale, Grace Andrews, Romell Barnes, Catherine McFarlin, Bernice Ratcliff, Majorie Ford, Mattie Campbell and Theresa Campbell; seven uncles, George Barksdale Jr., Philip Johnson, Bobbie Lipford, Esmond Barnes, J.W. Campbell, Richard Campbell and Joshua Ratcliff, mother-in-law, Mrs. Maggie Harrell; three sister-in-laws, Frances A. Harris, Denise Pope and Faye Pope; three brother-in-laws, Dexter Ellerbe, Weldon Pope and Sam Pope. His very precious friend Marion Waller, her three daughters Alyssa, Tracie and Jacqueline and a host of nieces, nephews, great aunts, great uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A light from our family is gone, the voice we love is still, but his precious memory will still linger on and cause our love to be fulfilled.

To A Brother Like None Other

ALL of my life you've been there,
A real life hero in my eyes;
Your love too profound to measure,
To walk in your footsteps, I will try.

You've been my friend and my brother,
A simple role to a man like you;
Even played the role of Dad and Mother,
That's why my love for you is true.

I'll never get back what was stolen,
But in God's plan I'll try to believe;
That one day we'll be reunited,
And all hurt he will relieve.

I can't forget all the times that you've taken me by the hands;
Shielded me from harm and danger, placed me on my feet to stand.

Now I'm left without my foundation,
But I must press onward anyway;
Remembering the all that you've taught me thus far,
To see you I await that day.
