The three men and one woman that filed out of the back of the canvas covered lory did not look like military personnel to Buon, even though they were dressed in proper military attire. The woman stepped forward and spoke to Buon in reasonably good Malyasian "Captain, we are the recovery team from the Byrd Foundation." She guestured toward one man "Mike Campbell is the man in charge of our group." Getting no response from Buon, she continued "We are here to assist you in recovering our merchandise."
"Frankly Miss, you could have saved your effort. I doubt that there is much any of you will be able to do in Thailand until the engine is recovered. In deed, your presences will announce us to the thieves." Buon told her sternly.
The woman conferred with Mike Campbell, and then to Buon "Mister Campbell was lead to believe that the Byrd Foundation would have the full co-operation of the Genzin Company." Buon could tell by the foreigners demeanor that his statement had been aggitating.
Buon waved her comment off casually "And you shall have it Miss. My main concern is that the mission not be jeapordized unnecessarily."
This time the woman did not stop to confer with her leader. "Listen Captain, I doubt that you or any of your people could tell if the engine was fully intact, or even if it were a fake. We need you because you know the area and it's people. So, I do believe that we both need each other."
Buon smiled out her outburst "It is good to see that you have an accurate understanding of the situation. It will make co-operation between us that much easier." He gave her a slight bow "I am Captain Buon Tupok, Commanding Officer of the recovery team."
To Buon's surprise, the woman gave him a slightly deeper bow before she replied "I am Jane Weatherly, Propulsion Specialist of our team."
Buon called to some of his men to help the Americans load their gear onboard the Gulfstream. "We will be read to leave as soon as everyone is onboard" he told her as he guestured toward the Gulfstream.
