Vital To Get Around

Welcome to the first phase of your training. This section goes over how to get around using the keyboard defaults. However, since the defaults didn't program a key for sliding. So you should go and program a key now. Click here to see my configuration.

Okay, now to the good stuff. The Pyro has 3 degrees of motion. Slide Left/Right, Forward/Reverse, and Slide Up/Down.
I always keep my Slide keys close to my Forward and Reverse Keys. See the pictures below to get a better understanding.

I've made a small level so you practice all degrees of motion. Click here for the Descent 1 version of it, or here for the Descent 2 version. To extract it for Descent 1, use WinZip and extract it to the Descent directory (Example: c:\games\descent) For Descent 2, you have to extract it to your descent2\missions directory. (Example: c:\games\descent2\missions) To get out, just open the exit door and fly through it. Once you've reached a point that you can slide with little to no problem, go on to Intermediate Controls. Or, if you think you're a hotshot, go to the Advanced Controls to learn how to avoid almost any kind of shot that people throw at you, and learn how to get extra speed without afterburners (or cheating, in which some of y'all do)
