Now what are the main reasons that make players consider a country to be easy?
(After every map there will be Citations from the players)
"I am a WWI history buff. i am fascinated by the Habsburg and their ruin of Europe. From a game point of view, the fact that Austria is so compact, I don't have to spend too much time thinking and planning moves.it's also got lot's of potential to win early."
"Austria, because it can run riot in Europe and have a chance at winning."
"(...) China, isolated positions which are good for novices."
"England, coz it requires the maximum diplomatic and tactical efforts due to its numerous neighbours and units which it has at disposal."
"England keeps you fully involved in the game. England is the only country that has to consider what all 10 of the other players are doing and thinking. No other country has relations with everybody. I really have a lot of fun playing England."
"Is a ball to play. It requires much time to play it right but can be a blast if you have the time. Everyone contacts England so you interact with about every player in the game and for this fact usually you have your choice of allies."
"I think England is the most fun to play, as there is such a wide range of possible strategies, lots of action and diplomacy, and lots of supply points to play with (but maybe the fact that I won playing England may have something to do with my answer :-)"
"tough to play and forces political manoeuvring."
"Partly because it is 50% easier than the next easiest country, and partly because they are involved in so much of the world."
"It is fun due to the challenge that it gives the player. You must secure alliances and find a way to expand at the same time."
"Have fun, not serious, don't expect to win, take chances."
"cos its such a dead duck."
"A lot of sea war, very different from others."
"small and naval based but able to influence just about any of the larger forces"
"Can control two continents of actions."
"because they have enough fronts to expand on without having so many options you get confused."
"In my opinion Russia is the Funniest Country to Play. It borders many other Countries but is concentrated enough to keep your basic moves simple. You have the option to stay with ground forces or if you prefer you can push to the water and sail out to take on Japan and USA."
"you cannot do well without good diplomacy. Still, you have great chances to do very well if you do your job well."
"I loved even getting my butt kicked as spain as I do winning (hopefully will end up this way too)."
"You always spoil someone's plans because no one thinks of Spain as a powerhouse."
"Once England's gone you have your own continent."
England was considered as the most fun of the countries, followed by Germany. The main reason was being able to interact with other countries.
But although France is almost as spread as England and Germany it had only 2 votes. Maybe because even if France has the chance of interact with other countries, it usually finds itself alone in diplomatic relations, in most of his games.
Japan gets a great 3rd place due to being different from other countries.
It is possible to say that in GD, interaction = fun.
