"I have used CO command three or four time. It worked once. I have saw one player use CO command beautifully. It made me suffered."
"In many games I never get a chance to use it, but if I can I will and it can be VERY effective. (...) When you get a chance to use it can be a huge advantage, since it allows you to take a coastal area and then move inland without having to wait while you build a new unit. I don't think I have suffered too much from it, but you do have to consider that an enemy could use this command and properly defend yourself, which makes the game more interesting."
"Numerous times. Whenever I can!! Great command and easy to surprise others."
"I've used it several times and have had it used a few times against me. Both situation have been very low in effectiveness and I don't view the command that much effective really."
"...when convoying units into undefended areas, it is often quicker than building a unit in the landing zone. .It is also great for island hopping. If a squad wanted to take 2 islands it would take it 4 turns alone (one to launch from the mainland, one to take the first island one to move back to sea and the last to take the other island), if tit was convoying a corps, it would only take 3 turns."
"When you attack some coast area with only navy, you may build some land force and CO them to non-SP area(they are not guarded as well as SP area, such as CO 132 259 141. It will change the whole status."
"A unit can travel a long distance in one turn."
"Strongest point is the ability to quickly redeploy troops in areas distant from their home."
"It requires 2x the points worth of units during an attack, i.e. if you are convoying a corps into an enemy zone, it is a 1 point attack, but also require you to use a squad who can't participate in the attack."
"The convoy is weak in your execution because you can cut this move without a advantage. You can cut a convoy when you make a attack. I think, you would must to win the combat to cut the convoy."
"Weak point (not sure) - a unit cannot attack and fight for the territory to which it is convoyed. I.e. if the destination area is attacked by a corps the convoyed army will have to retreat, right? I recall something like this happened in one of my previous games..."
"The weakest point is it's difficult to use this command because just bumping one unit will cut the convoy. It's for this reason it is not used as much as it could be I think. However, if changed, we'd have to make sure it doesn't benefit the larger countries too much, since they are already at an advantage in this game and the smaller countries like Austria, Italy and China are rarely in a position where they can benefit from it's use."
"Allied naval units should have the ability to convoy units of each other. This is more realistic."
"Convoy can be cut very easily. Although it also is in a way a strong point - you can make very surprising moves when convoy is cut and some other strategy is left undefended."
This is the 2nd most used command. Although hard to create, if successful, can bring victory in a conflict.
I ask you to see some citations carefully (like in other questions). Some bring ideas and most important doubts about the proper use of commands. It would be great if you all could help those players who have a doubt. As the players are anon you can answer in the Newsgroup.
