Welcome to Canyon's Edge!

?????Canyon's Edge is the setting of my Champions campaign, and is loosely based on the San Angelo line from Gold Rush Games. Here's some of the background information for the campaign.
Coming soon: Champion's In Space!!!

The Chakat ship has been repaired, and the crew is ready to set off! Will Snowfire ever reach her homeworld? What terrors await the team in the depths of space? Exactly how DO Ch'kats climb trees? All this and more will be seen in our next episode, same Ch'kat time, same Ch'kat station!

The Players (past and present)

Sailor Dis
Sailor Dis is a refugee from the Sailor Moon universe, where she was being tormented by a Negaverse villain by the name of Dark Traveller. Unfortunately for her, he followed her to my campaign world. You can also check out more of her story at her creator's page. Sailor Dis is on a hiatus, since her player moved out of state.

Snowfire (the Chakat)*
A Chakat scoutship was exploring the system when they suffered a mysterious system failure and crashed on Earth. 200 years later, the only survivor, a 12 year old Chakat named Snowfire, was revived by the ship's computer, who deemed that Earth society had evolved far enough for Snowfire to survive outside the ship. Or at least to blend in with the rest of the weirdoes in Canyon's Edge. Armed with her Energy Bow and an impressive array of "Chakat Powers," she fights evil and waits for her ship to get fixed so she can go home. Meanwhile, the players are still trying to figure out how a 'Taurform species can climb trees.

The Shield*
Product of superior breeding (but definately NOT a mutant), the Shield has superhuman speed and agility, as well as some nifty equipment made from unstable molecules. This is also the character who waltzed into a Crusader base, grabbed three of their highest security prisoners, and waltzed back out without taking any damage. He also fixes cars.

Gearhead
An absent-minded gadgeteer, Gearhead was one of the earliest members of the super-team, but left for Mars after hitting an innocent man (who had funny eyelids) with a door. In his defense, the door was said to be rabid.

Carpenter*
Following Gearhead's expedition to Mars (where he still carries an anti-raccoon gun), Carpenter arrived in Canyon's Edge. Carpenter, aka Marcus Quentin, was a young man from the wrong side of the tracks who learned Kung-Fu while in Japan, doing communinty service for an eccentric old martial artist. He was well on his way to becoming Canyon's Edge's most popular hero when he decided to return to Japan for health concerns. This is also the person who stopped a city-wide riot almost single-handedly. He recently returned to Canyon's Edge, just in time to foil The Pharoa's dastardly plans.

Lobsterback
Wearing the Armor of Atlantis, Lobsterback wasn't necessarily the brightest of heroes, but he was certainly the most... colorful. Nigh invulnerable, he passed through Canyon's Edge, pausing only to thwart a 10-year-old villain and rescue the Shield from the clutches of Polaris.

Tuxedo Li
Another talented martial artist, Tuxedo Li hails from the same origin universe as Sailor Dis. He helped the party break into an irradiated Crusader base, but he couldn't stand the other member's "wishy-washy" attitude toward villainy.

Stormweaver*
A classical mage, Stormweaver commands a vast array of chaotic elemental magics. His mastery of magic also gives him an edge in his professional life as a meteorologist.

Potatan
A Saiyan caught on the wrong side of a civil war, Potatan recently landed in Lake Oro, north of Canyon's Edge. Armed with Energy Blasts and a Scouter, he's still trying to adjust to life on Earth.

Old Canyon's Edge Newspaper Clippings

I like to start each session by passing around a sheet of "newspaper clippings." Some of these are clues and plot hooks, some are publicity the team generated in the preceeding session, and some are just fluff.

Supporting Characters & Villains

??????Here are some of the denizens of Canyon's Edge. Since the campaign is based on San Angelo, I've used several of the characters for City of Heroes and Enemies of San Angelo, who aren't listed here for the obvious reasons.

Organizations

BoTM - The Brotherhood of True Men is an ostensibly religious organization, devoted to the preservation of a mutant-free genepool. Their enforcement arm, the Crusaders, have run up against (and run from, on occasion) the players several times. The Crusaders, at least, are going to have a low profile in my campaign for a while, after an abortive attempt at taking over the city ("And we would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for those meddling heroes... and their Chakat!") and the loss of yet another of their secret bases.

GE - "We bring good things to life!" GE is an organization dedicated to better living through genetic manipulation. Their primary agents are a pair of genetic constructs named Bill and Ted, a dysfunctional duo who's only saving grace is that they can always be re-cloned, much to the heroes' dismay. The GE base hidden under the Faraday Memorial Hospital was recently destroyed, apparently by an act of God (or goddess, in this case).

InFoMUS - The International Fraternity of Mutants Under Seige. Every campaign needs a pro-mutant supremacy group, and this is mine. InFoMUS is led by a family of Advanced Generation mutants known as "The Children of the Rose," who all have vast powers controling some basic force of the Universe (Gravity, Magnetism, etc.) It was recently revealed that InFoMUS has plans to release the Pandorra Virus (which causes spontaneous mutation) into the atmosphere. What makes matters worse is that they apparently have the backing of Gaia (yes, the Earth diety), who has also been running somewhat amok lately.

The Gaians - The Temple of Gaia (my replacement for the Temple of Atlantis in S.A.) has been through some rough times in Canyon's Edge lately. When the heroes first become involved, their High Priestess was deathly ill, attended by Malcolm Gerard, who professed some minor skill in herbalism. Following her death, they were forcibly disbanded on charges of kidnapping during the BoTM sack of the city. They've slowly been rebuilding their influence in the community, with a new location (But still the same Temple. Long story). Malcolm was later found to be a criminal mastermind and demonologist, responsible for half of the major plots the heroes had foiled during the course of the campaign.

Emerald Jihaad - The Emerald Jihaad is a local environmental terrorist group. So far, they've been more of a help to the team than a threat, providing information and clues about the Plagues of Pharoa. Their early attempts at villainy flopped, as their powered armor proved inadequate to deal with one mutant security officer.

The Sailor Clique - A set of Senshi from Sailor Dis's universe who were corrupted by the Negaverse. A little more information about them can be found on Sailor Dis's page. The members of the Sailor Clique are: Sailor Death (Ceres), Sailor Sorrow, Sailor Fashion, Sailor Twilight, and Sailor Punishment.

The Dark Senshi - Another group of extra-dimensional sailor scouts, these are dark parodies of the normal Sailor Scouts. They were brought to Tokyo by Dark Traveller to cover his escape when the team pursued him back to Sailor Dis's dimension. The scouts are: Sailor Kurashi, Sailor Ares, Sailor Zues, Sailor Aphrodite, and Sailor Hermes. Each represents the worst traits of the Scouts they parody: Thus, Ares is a pyromaniac, Zues is a combat monster, Aphrodite is a narcissict, and Hermes is a cold brainiac. Kurashi, however, is the opposite of Sailor Moon, and is violent, competent, and uncaring. Their one great weakness is that they all hate each other with a passion, which led to their defeat on Tokyo Tower (the monster magnet of Japan!).

Individuals

Junkyard - Junkyard is a 6' tall mutant raccoon. Despite his total lack of education, he's a mechanical genius, capable of making almost any electro-mechanical device given the proper quantities of junk. He became involved with the players when the Brotherhood of True Men came after him, and met up with his automotons. Many of the PC's were suitably distressed to discover that the Technocoon had a very pragmatic means of disposing of the bodies. Junkyard's defense of "I was hungry," didn't do much for his case, and Gearhead (with aid from the Chakat and some local law enforcement) brought the hyperactive critter into custody. As shown in the Newspaper clippings, he was subsequently adopted by Mary Claire.

Mary Clair - A low grade psi and all around nice lady, Mary has a slew of low powered psionic abilities and a degree in psychology. She did the initial evaluation of Junkyard, and determined that he was not psychologically fit to stand trial for his crimes (which consisted of eating genocidal murderers and reconfiguring a crane into a mecha). No, she's NOT a rip of Counselor Troi, so there.

Bill & Ted - Ok, so they aren't exactly individuals. Armed with genetic enhancements and surfer accents, these agents of GE are perpetually ready to be cremated in the name of duty. Having a "loyalty" gene really sucks sometimes, dude. On the plus side, they're effectively immortal, since every time they die, GE just makes a new set, with more enhancements.

Jacob Drake - A talented sorcerer, Jacob probably bit off more than he could chew when he married one of the "Children of the Rose." He's currently infamous (but NOT InFoMUS) for having been mistaken for Graviton early in the campaign.

Melissa Drake - Daughter of Jacob Drake, Melissa has had a pretty complicated life so far, and it doesn't look like it's going to get better. A "Child of the Rose," part of the Advanced Generation mutant family that commands InFoMUS, she doesn't have any obvious mutant abilites, but she IS an obvious vessel of power. Since shortly after her mother's death, Melissa has been in contact with Gaia, the Earth Goddess, giving her near omniscience, but only if Gaia (or "Mother" as Melissa calls her) wants to answer. Melissa has been the subject of many plots, kidnappings, and the occasional poisoning attempt, but with the help of the heroes (and a LOT of luck), she's survived. Left in Themis's care following the Jacob Drake/Graviton fiasco, she was adopted by the Shield, who rescued her (along with some other high-power supers) from a Crusader base during their failed attempt at controling the city.

Archelothtept - A body-hopping Egyptian sorcerer, currently the head of the Cabal (sort of a world-wide wizard's Union). His current host is a 12 year old boy. Achelothtept has been revealed to have an abiding hatred of werewolves (and Phelan in particular), which stems (apparently) from an altercation that occured during the Spanish Inquisition.

Phelan - Current High Alpha of the North American clan of werewolves. At their annual meeting on halloween (which the PC's were present for), he announced his vision for the future of the clan: Politcal Action. Though he'd plotted revenge against humankind for centuries (especially mages), he decided to give a shot at diplomacy. Alas, it was not to be, as Stormweaver, guided by Archelothtept, turned the rally into a massacre, earning him the personal enmity of Phelan.
