I'm Dan Madsen, the President & Publisher of the Star Wars Insider. I've been disturbed by
reading some of the comments I've seen on your website regarding our four exclusive figures
being released this Fall. Let me first begin by saying that The Star Wars Insider has worked
with Hasbro to make these four carded figures, that otherwise would not have been available,
for sale to Star Wars fans. Because of the Star Wars Insider's successful exclusive action
figure program, Hasbro decided to make available to us these 4 carded figures that would not
have otherwise shipped with regular assortments. These figures are being produced in extremely
limited numbers. Right now only 25,000 of each character are available. Because of this
extremely limited run the prices of these figures are higher than usual. These will not be
available in any stores. They will only be available through the fan club. I take issue with
you in positioning the fan club as if we are trying to take advantage of the fans in this
situation. In fact, that is simply not true. We are trying to offer the fans something they
would not have been able to get here otherwise. We are trying to make the figures available
at as reasonable of a price as we can. We are not able to sell at below or at cost and stay
in business the way some large retail chains can. I value the opinions and continued support
of the Star Wars figure collectors as we will surely have more exclusive figures in the near
future. I felt it important to make our comments known as we do value our Star Wars fans and
have no intention of "reaming" them, as you accuse us of doing on your site.
