Gondolas - Venice, Italy
April is rainy season in Italy. This morning in Venice was certainly wet.
Passing Plaza San Marco I encountered a place where the gondola owners
store the gondolas for the night. This shot shows the gondolas still
covered up. I thought this was a picture that one doesn't get to see in a
tourist magazine. The photograph is a little busy but this gives a sense
of never ending gondolas.
Siena, Italy
If you get to visit Italy, you should not miss Siena. This town was the
highlight of my entire trip. The town is a maze of streets that lead to
dead ends. All the buildings are painted with the same earthtone colors
so getting lost is not a difficult task. Walking back to the tour
bus I found this sausage shop crowded with people. I waited for it to
empty a little so more detail of the shop could be seen. After ten
minutes I got the shot I was waiting for. Note in the upper right corner
of the picture the boar is wearing sunglasses. That was not preempted by me.
Realizing that the bus was about to leave I took off running through the
labyrinth of streets. I felt like I was in the David Bowie movie
Labyrinth. Luckily, I found the bus just as it was backing up ready
to leave. Tour companies wait for no one.
