It is Halloween Eve and Dan Ketch and his sister Barbara are walking thru Cypress Hills Cemetary late at night. She wants to witness psychics trying to contact Houdini's spirit. Dan is justifiably nervous and as Barbara is chiding him they hear a gunshot and a scream. They witness as a being calling himself DEATHWATCH attempts to steal an item from men working for the Kingpin. Deathwarch and his men kill them and Barbara screams in horror. Deathwatch orders them kileld since he doesn't want witnesses. Barbara gets an arrow through her chest. She tumbles down the hill with Dan running after her. While this happens a street gang takes the case from the Kingpin's men and flee. Deathwatch orders them all found and killed and the item retrieved then leaves. Dan meanwhile hides with his unconscious sister inside a junkyard in a pile of abandoned autos. He notices what appear to be eyes glowing in the dark and his fear rises. He then sees what looks to be a shiny new motorcycle. Back in the yard the ninjas of Deathwatch find the gang member with the case and prepare to destroy the area to kill Dan and Barb. Dan is still panicking wondering how to save her when he notices the gas cap on the bike glowing. He touches it with his blood stained hand and a glow shoots forth and envelops them both. He screams and the Ninjas prepare to hurl a bomb in to finish the job. The ground rumbles and a strange noise is heard when suddenly bursting free of the debris, proclaiming who he is , THE GHOST RIDER, The SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE! He easily bests the ninjas and takes out some police who arrived on the scene. He convinces them to get Barb to a hospital even as the gang member escapes with the package. Eluding the police he then stops in an alley and vows to avenge the innocent blood that has been spilled.
